Not to be confused with any of the sequels to Sylvester Stallone's classic Oscar-winning Rocky, this short film from Finnish filmmaker Aki Kaurismäki is actually meant as a parody of the late Cold War-era Rocky IV, which saw Stallone's character taking on a juiced-up Russian fighter played by Dolph Lundgren. In this 1986 send-up, Rock'y, played by Silu Seppala, goes head to head with Soviet Igor (Sakari Kuosmanen) and loses.

Wir tauchen ein in eine Zeit, die mit der heutigen mehr gemein hat als man denkt. „Es war das goldene Zeitalter der Sicherheit,“ schreibt Stefan Zweig (1881-1942) in seinem Buch „Die Welt von Gestern“, im Film gelesen von Bodo Primus. In dieser „Welt von Gestern“ schuf die Komponistin Dora Pejačević (1885-1923) ihre Werke, die denen ihrer berühmten männlichen Kollegen in nichts nachstehen. Sie wurde als Gräfin geboren und konnte ihr Talent schon früh entfalten. Aber nach dem ersten Weltkrieg und dem Zusammenbruch der Monarchie musste sie ihr Leben der neuen Zeit anpassen, um weiter komponieren zu können. „Ein Mensch wie ich kann sich für keine Klasse entscheiden,“ schrieb sie einer Freundin. Nach ihrem tragischen Tod 1923 in München geriet Dora Pejačević in Vergessenheit. Im Film wird von den Filmemachern gemeinsam mit dem Gewandhausorchester Leipzig ein Plan umgesetzt, den sie vor 100 Jahren nicht mehr zu Ende bringen konnte.

Chilly Gonzales ist preisgekrönter Komponist, Klaviervirtuose und Entertainer. Er stellt Rap und Elektronik ganz selbstverständlich neben Kammermusik und ist der unverschämte Pop-Performer, der ungebeten in Bademantel und Pantoffeln im Elfenbeinturm der Klassik abhängt. Als exzentrischer Musiker ist er Inspirationsquelle für so unterschiedliche Künstler wie Feist, Jarvis Cocker, Peaches, Daft Punk und Drake. Veränderung ist die einzige Konstante in Gonzales‘ künstlerischem Output. Jedes Mal, wenn sein Publikum glaubt, ihn durchschaut zu haben, vollzieht er einen radikalen Stilwechsel und bricht mit Erwartungen
