Die Handlung spielt im Jahr 1980. Im Zentrum des Geschehens stehen das Geschwisterpaar Lindsay und Sam Weir, und ihre Rollenverteilung an der Schule. Die 16-jährige Lindsay bemüht sich darum, nicht mehr als Streberin abgestempelt zu werden und versucht, in den Kreis der Schulschwänzer und „Coolen“ zu gelangen (in der Serie als Freaks bezeichnet). Dies führt regelmäßig zu Konflikten mit ihrer streng religiösen Kindheitsfreundin Millie, die Lindsays Wandel nicht nachvollziehen kann und versucht, sie vor dem sicheren sozialen Abstieg zu bewahren

As the news of Gu Silin's death spreads and Xiao Dingquan sets out to Changzhou to control the situation, the king finally shows remorse as he apologizes to Xiao Dingquan.
