Porter's sequential continuity editing links several shots to form a narrative of the famous fairy tale story of Jack and his magic beanstalk. Borrowing on cinematographic methods reminiscent of 'Georges Melies' , Porter uses animation, double exposure, and trick photography to illustrate the fairy's apparitions, Jack's dream, and the fast growing beanstalk.

Painter Gao Yuan’s experimental animation is composed of a series of surreal scenes, based on her acrylic paintings made between 2010-14. Objects and people find themselves in unusual situations where rules of gravity and structure do not apply. The familiar yet unnervingly offbeat scenes are connected through unexpected sounds and rhythms. Under the dim moonlight, the characters are stuck in a dream state from which they cannot awaken.

Die Geschichte handelt von zwei frisch Vermählten, Keaton und Seely, die ein Build-it-yourself-Haus als Hochzeitsgeschenk erhalten. Das Haus kann angeblich in einer Woche aufgebaut werden. Ein zurückgewiesener Verehrer ändert jedoch heimlich die Zahlen auf den Verpackungskisten. Der Film erzählt von Keatons Versuchen, dass Haus nach dieser neuen "Anordnung" dennoch zu montieren.

In diesem frühen Chaplin-Film spielt er eine ganz andere Figur als den Tramp, für den er später berühmt werden sollte. Er ist ein reicher Gentleman aus der Oberschicht, dessen Romanze in Gefahr gerät, als seine Freundin ihn dabei beobachtet, wie er von einem Dienstmädchen umarmt wird. Chaplins romantisches Interesse in diesem Film, Minta Durfee, war die Frau seines Keystone-Kollegen, Roscoe „Fatty“ Arbuckle.
