Giulio is a widower, struggling to raise three sons, Marco, Rudi, and Mimmo, as best he can. He lives in Rome's working-class Garbatella neighborhood and runs a wine shop with his two brothers. Lucia, meanwhile, comes from Milan's middle-class background; she's divorced and trying to rebuild her life with her two daughters, Eva and Alice. The two meet by chance and recognize each other: they had a fling as teenagers, many years earlier. Yet first love is never forgotten, and so Giulio and Lucia find themselves together again. Their meeting, however, changes not only the lives of a man and a woman, but also those of two families as different as could be. Two families who find themselves living under the same roof without even having had the time to get to know each other well.

THE FUNNY COMPANY was an American animated cartoon produced in 1963 and seen in syndication. Ken Snyder and Charles Koren produced 260 six-minute long episodes. The Mattel Corporation provided financial backing. Snyder conceived the program in response to then-Federal Communications Commission chairman Newton N. Minow's call for more educational children's programs. THE FUNNY COMPANY group resembled a club not unlike a Junior Achievement organization, and most of the time, the stories would revolve around the Company being hired for various jobs to make a little money or doing something for charity. As time went on, the Company decided to make Shrinkin' Violette a movie star and were on their way to Hollywood. Members included leader Buzzer Bell, inventor Jasper N. Park, club secretary Polly Plum, rotund Merry Twitter, club mascot Terry Dactyl, shy Shrinkin' Violette, and two Native American adults--Super Chief whose voice was an air horn of a single-chime railroad locomotive, and his translator Broken Feather. Another adult lending a hand was Professor Todd Goodheart with his supercomputer, the Weisenheimer.

Und dann ist da auch noch der zweite Boss Marcus Schoener, der den Mitarbeiterinnen reihenweise den Kopf verdreht…

Nach dem Tod seiner Frau hat ein Witwer (Walton Goggins) das schlimmste Jahr seines Lebens hinter sich und beginnt nun, wieder nach vorne zu blicken. Der ehemalige Football-Profi Wood Newton läßt sich mit seiner Frau Ava und den drei Kindern Taylor, Molly und Willy in Evening Shade im Staat Arkansas nieder, wo er das erfolglose Football-Team der örtlichen Highschool trainiert.

Das zentrale Paar in der Serie „Still Standing“ bringt sich immer noch gegenseitig zum Lachen, selbst wenn das Geld manchmal knapp wird und in ihrer Familie nicht alles so glatt läuft.
