Genjo Sanzo trägt die Insignien eines buddhistischen Mönches höchsten Ranges, ein rotes Chakra auf der Stirn und das Sutra des Dämonischen Himmels um die Schultern. Doch Genjo Sanzo ist alles andere als ein normaler Mönch! Er trinkt, raucht, ist arrogant und kaltschnäuzig, spielt Mah-Jongg und hat keine Skrupel jemanden zu töten. Vor einigen Jahren hat Sanzo Son Goku einen Yokai in menschlicher Gestalt befreit, der seit 500 Jahren in einem Berg gefangen gehalten wurde. Während dieser langen Zeit lebte Goku ohne Essen und Trinken, ist aber auch nicht gealtert. Son Goku besitzt einen äußerst offenen und fröhlichen Charakter und ist immer hungrig. Mit seiner Art schafft er es jedes mal wieder, den mürrischen Sanzo die Nerven zu rauben und dabei Schläge und Tritte zu kassieren.

Sayaka Minami works as a designer for a company. She is 30-years-old, single and has not had any love experience due to her 15 year unrequited love for Ryosuke Sagisawa. They have been friends since they were kids. One day, Sayaka wakes up and a strange man is in front of her. She panics and the man introduces herself as Shohei Machida. Serialized between 2004 and 2006 in Shueisha's Chorus magazine, the series was later compiled into a single volume in January 12, 2007. It was adapted into an anime series, which premiered on April 3, 2009, directed by Atsushi Takeyama, scripted by Natsuko Takahashi and with music by Toshio Masuda. It is written by Gerard Stembridge and Risteárd Cooper and focuses on the clash between politicians and the media. It is filmed mostly in and around the RTÉ studios at Montrose. The first episode was broadcast on Sunday 22 April 2007. Each episode focuses on a key Irish issue, with topics covered including the transport crisis, the health service debate and the justice portfolio. The show is presented in spoof documentary form. It was commissioned for broadcast at the time of the build-up to the 2007 general election. The show poked fun at well-known personalities.
