Licking Hitler is a television play about a black propaganda unit operating in England during World War II, broadcast by the BBC on 10 January 1978 as part of the Play for Today series. It won the best single television play BAFTA award for 1978. Hare intended the work as a companion piece to his stage play Plenty and he wrote Plenty as he was editing Licking Hitler, scene and scene about. Its theme is similar to that of Plenty: the effect of war on individuals' private lives and treating their experiences as a metaphor for the England of the present.

Dr. Slump ist ein ziemlich überdrehter, aber genialer Erfinder. Seine wohl gelungenste Schöpfung ist das Robotermännchen Arale Norimaki (jap.: »kleiner Reiskeks«). Leider stattete Dr. Slump die kleine Arale aus Versehen mit etwas zu viel Kraft und Temperament aus, sodass sie wie ein Wirbelwind durch Haus und Dorf fegt. Arales wahnwitzige Ideen bringen Dr. Slump und andere Bewohner von Pinguinhausen beinahe um den Verstand. Doch niemand ist ihr lange böse, denn mit ihr gibt es schließlich auch jede Menge zu lachen, zu erleben und zu entdecken.

Die Serie handelt davon, dass Außerirdische als Besucher in Menschengestalt die Erde mit Raumschiffen besuchen und mit den Menschen handeln wollen. Die Außerirdischen geben vor, in friedlicher Absicht zu kommen, verfolgen jedoch finstere Pläne.
