A raucous village girl is overjoyed when a sophisticated city man who has just returned from America takes interest in her, however he is warned by elders in the village that she is a troublemaker and so she decides to prove to him that she is worth marrying.

The adventures of Otalia, a strangely innocent young Brazilian prostitute who has just arrived in Salvador, Bahia. Though her belongings are stolen from her shortly after arrival, Otalia swiftly meets up with a group of charming and helpful friends.

A bicycle messenger sees a girl being brutally assaulted and dragged into a van. She immediately calls the police, but unfortunately the girl is found too late. It turns out that the murdered girl has been the victim of a serious sexual crime. Detective Inspector Irene Huss and the rest of the team begin to look for the murderer, but have very few clues to go on. When another young girl is murdered in a similar way, the team realizes that they are dealing with a sexual predator. How does he get in touch with the girls? Why do they agree to meet him? Why are they wearing special underwear?

Zohara has been waiting to go home ever since she was first stationed at a distant military base, but when the day arrives her hopes evaporate. The soldier sent to replace her appears to be suicidal. Instead of leaving, Zohara is ordered to guard the new girl.

Based on photographer William Yang's one man stage show, "Sadness" chronicles two diverging narratives through the use of slide photography, oral history and stylised recreation. One story follows Yang's pilgrimage into the heart of the North Queensland sugar cane fields as he investigates the murder of his uncle Fang Yuen. The other is a series of moving portraits of the many friends and lovers Yang has lost to AIDS. Der geniale, jedoch eigentümliche Philosophie-Lehrer Mr. Zimit lost den Schülern willkürlich Berufe zu, welche zu rationalen Entscheidungen verhelfen sollen. Das Urteilsvermögen der Schüler wird auf eine harte Probe gestellt und das Experiment bekommt schon bald eine kritische Eigendynamik…
