Der pyrophobe Leichenbestatter Gerald Tovar Jr. (Andrew Divoff) erbt die Familiengruft und entdeckt zufällig hunderte unverbrannte Körper darin. Als er sie versehentlich toxischen Medizin-Abfällen aussetzt, erheben sich die Toten und machen Jagd auf den Leichenbestatter und seinen nach einem Job suchenden Bruder Harold (Jeffrey Combs). Zusammen machen sie den Zombies mit diversen Schießeisen oder unkonventionellen Waffen wie heißen Bügeleisen den Garaus. Eine Zeit lang geht ihre Taktik auf, doch dann werden sie von den Monstern immer mehr eingekesselt.
