Als andere Regisseure noch längst nicht den Mut fanden, die friedliche Revolution in der DDR zu dokumentieren, reisten Andreas Voigt, Gerd Kroske und Kameramann Sebastian Richter nach Leipzig. Sie drehten während der Montagsdemonstrationen, die eine demokratische Veränderung der DDR und mehr Freiheit für jeden einzelnen Bürger zum Ziel hatten. Befragt wurden Demonstranten, Polizisten, Pastoren, Wehrpflichtige, Partei- und Staatsfunktionäre - Menschen, die ungeschminkt von ihren Erfahrungen und Hoffnungen zu sprechen begannen. Ein denkwürdiges, authentisches Dokument von Erbitterung und Hoffnung, Zuversicht und Lethargie. Aufgenommen in jenen Tagen, als noch längst nicht klar war, dass der Aufbruch im deutschen Osten ohne Blutvergießen vonstatten gehen würde.
