The SAS (Section Administrative Spécialisée) were created in 1956 by the French army during the Algerian war to pacify "the natives". During the day, the SAS were used as treatment centres and at night as torture centres, in order to crush the Algerian resistance. The SAS were inhabited by French soldiers and auxiliaries (harkis, goumiers) and their families. At independence in 1962, a few families of auxiliaries stayed on; the vacant buildings were occupied by families of martyrs awaiting the better days promised by the new Algeria. 46 years later, the SAS at Laperrine, in the Bouira region, still exists, a unique place inhabited by people who have taken refuge there. They have been joined by farmers fleeing the terrorism of the 90s. They all live as best they can in a place they did not choose, suffering the consequences of war.

Pam gathers a group of college students to join her in a trek to an abandoned mine on a remote, forested mountain. Though her companions believe they are going to help reclaim and restore the area's environment, Pam knows of strange events in both the distant and recent past. Her interest appears to be more in the line of folklore and parapsychology than the environment. The group experiences a number of misfortunes and mysteries before arriving in the area of the mine. They soon encounter a hermit living alone in a cabin and he seems to know quite a bit about the sinister nature of the region. All must confront and escape the evil that has lurked at the mine since a tragedy there in 1845.

Painter Gao Yuan’s experimental animation is composed of a series of surreal scenes, based on her acrylic paintings made between 2010-14. Objects and people find themselves in unusual situations where rules of gravity and structure do not apply. Eifelwirtin Toni Janssen und ihre Mutter Heidi führen die Kupferkanne wieder im Zweierteam. Während Heidis Pension auf Hochtouren läuft, möchte Toni bei ihrem frisch renovierten Landgasthof ein paar Gänge herunterschalten. Der neue Name "Kupferkännchen" soll für ein weniger ambitioniertes Konzept stehen: Hausmannskost für die Kneipengäste. Höchste kulinarische Ansprüche bringt jedoch ihr neuer Koch Sebastian Holtmann mit. Er hat nicht nur einiges auf der Pfanne, sondern tritt auch überaus selbstbewusst auf. Dass Sebastian am liebsten gleich unter seinem Namen wiedereröffnen möchte, erstaunt Toni schon mächtig.

Eifelwirtin Toni Janssen hat den Blues. Das unverhoffte Singleleben ist genauso deprimierend wie der Niedergang der "Kupferkanne" ohne die Kochkünste ihres "Ex". Am liebsten würde sich die sonst so toughe Restaurantbetreiberin den ganzen Tag unter die Bettdecke verkriechen! Aufgeben kommt für ihre Mutter Heidi jedoch nicht infrage. Dass es die Janssen-Frauen seit Generationen aus eigener Kraft schaffen, ist ohnehin ihr Lebensmotto. Bestes Beispiel: Heidis neu eröffnete Pension, die oft ausgebucht ist! Nicht nur der geschäftliche Erfolg wirkt sich auf die optimistische Mittfünfzigerin aus wie ein Jungbrunnen. Der Gärtner Ron, den die investitionsfreudige Existenzgründerin engagiert hat, überrascht mit charmanten Avancen. Was Heidi zunächst kaum glauben möchte, versetzt sie schon bald in einen Liebesrausch.

Die Familie Olchi muss sich ein neues Zuhause suchen, aber sie fühlen sich nirgendwo wirklich willkommen. Sie stinken und sind für die meisten Menschen einfach ein bisschen zu olchig. Als Feuerstuhl, der Familiendrache, auf der Müllhalde der Kleinstadt Smuddelfing abstürzt, fühlen sich die Olchis sofort zu Hause. Und hier wollen sie auch bleiben.
