Before the three feature films, Mario Schifano directs the camera towards the people around him to create real film diaries. His friends, his time partner and the artists he frequented are portrayed in their everyday life or object of the mechanical gaze of the camera, a filter through which to look at the outside world.

Owen muss Geld für die Bar seines Vaters auftreiben. Sein schwuler Onkel Earl, der für ein TV-Klatschmagazin arbeitet, macht den Vorschlag, Schmutzwäsche über den aufsteigenden Superstar Hayden Field aufzutreiben und dann für viel Kohle zu verscherbeln. Um an Hayden heranzukommen erpresst das Paparazzi-Duo dessen Freundin Lisa Mancini. Als Lisas angeblicher Cousin wird Owen ein Teil von Haydens Clique. Dumm nur, dass sich Owen schnell mit Hayden anfreundet und zudem auch noch Hals über Kopf in Lisa verliebt.

Gerade ist Susan mit Ehemann Richard und Sohn Jimi von New York nach Woodstock ins Hudson Valley gezogen. Richard wird in der Kleinstadt eine Arztpraxis übernehmen, in der Hoffnung, dass die Familie dann wieder mehr Zeit füreinander hat. Bereits kurz nach ihrer Ankunft macht Susan eine Entdeckung, die ihr den Boden unter den Füßen wegzieht: Lucas, ein erfolgreicher Fotograf und der leibliche Vater ihres Kindes, ist nicht nur in der Stadt, er arbeitet vorübergehend sogar an Jimis Schule. Verzweifelt versucht Susan ihr Geheimnis zu hüten, um ihre Familie zu schützen. Doch sie plagt auch das schlechte Gewissen. Hat sie damals einen schweren Fehler gemacht, als sie nicht nach Lucas suchte? Was wird ein Geständnis für ihre Ehe bedeuten? Und wird Jimi sie für ihre Lüge hassen?
