Filmed April 12, 2003 at a benefit concert held at and for The Anthology Film Archives, the international center for the preservation, study, and exhibition of avant-garde and independent cinema. In addition to screening films for the public, AFA houses a film museum, research library and art gallery. The event, which raised money for the Archives and celebrated the life and work of avant-garde film maker Stan Brakhage, featured Sonic Youth providing an improvised instrumental collaboration with silent Brakhage’s films. The band performed with drummer/percussionist Tim Barnes (Essex Green, Jukeboxer, Silver Jews).

Painter Gao Yuan’s experimental animation is composed of a series of surreal scenes, based on her acrylic paintings made between 2010-14. Quell dieses Glückes ist eine singende Harfe, welche eines Tages aus dem Schloss gestohlen wird, woraufhin das ganze Tal in Unglück verfällt. So auch die drei Bauern Goofy, Mickey und Donald, deren Ernte eingegangen ist und die vor Hunger beinahe wahnsinnig werden. Da tauschen sie ihren letzten Besitz, eine gutmütige Kuh, ein gegen eine Handvoll Zauberbohnen. Und tatsächlich erwächst aus den Bohnen eine riesige Pflanze, an der die drei Freunde hinaufgelangen können in eine andere, üppigere Welt, in der ein Riese haust. Sie machen sich auf die Suche nach der Harfe, denn von ihr hängt das Glück des gesamten Tals ab…
