Gewalt ist für sie die einfachste Art geworden, um Konflikte zu lösen. Der Film fragt nach den Ursachen, bietet aber keine Lösungen an. Zwei Schriftsteller, Stefan Heym und Christa Wolf äußern sich im Film zum Thema. Christa Wolf führt unter anderem ein Gespräch mit zwei der rechtsradikalen Jugendlichen. Stefan Heym zieht ein Vergleich zur Krisensituation in den frühen 30er Jahren

Der Dokumentarfilm konzentriert sich nicht auf harte Fakten und politische Ereignisse, sondern betrachtet den israelisch-palästinensischen Konflikt und die Aussicht auf Frieden, indem er einen Einblick in die Herzen und die Denkweise der Kinder Jerusalems gibt. Im Mittelpunkt des Films stehen sieben palästinensische und israelische Kinder. Jedes Kind sieht zentrale Aspekte des Konflikts im Nahen Osten aus einer dramatischen, emotionalen und bisweilen sogar urkomischen Perspektive. Die Kinder sind zwischen acht und 13 Jahren alt. Sie haben weder die Unsicherheit von Teenagern noch die Höflichkeit von Erwachsenen, und so äußern sie sich ohne jede Selbstzensur. Auch wenn sie nur zwanzig Minuten voneinander entfernt leben, so sind sie doch eingeschlossen in verschiedene Welten.
