Anders als in den großen professionellen Ligen wie der WWE oder TNA ist das Backyard-Wrestling blutiger ernst und die meist jugendlichen Kämpfer gehen recht brutal zur Sache. Regisseur Paul Hough beleuchtet in seinem Film die Beweggründe verschiedener Backyard-Wrestler und zeigt dabei schonungslos wir brutal es im Backyard-Wrestling zugeht. Der Kampf um selbstgebastelte Championchipgürtel in einer erfundenen Liga scheint für viele wichtiger zu sein als die eigene Gesundheit und die Eltern unterstützen das sinnlose treiben ihrer Kinder teilweise auch noch!

Nur mit Stripperin Cassidy verbindet ihn eine tiefere Freundschaft. Zu seiner miserablen Gesamtsituation kommen erschwerend gesundheitliche Probleme hinzu, die ihren vorläufigen Höhepunkt in einem Herzanfall finden. Randy muss das Wrestling an den Nagel hängen um weitere Zusammenbrüche zu vermeiden – doch im Berufsleben kann der alternde Sportler nicht mehr Fuß fassen.
