Ein Test eines gigantischen NFX-Rettungsroboters geht gründlich schief, als Medusa, die ihn steuernde, künstliche Intelligenz, durch einen Eingabefehler ihren Code umschreibt und die Kontrolle über alle Computersysteme der Welt zu übernehmen droht. Die Menschheit wird nun als „gefährliche“ Bedrohung klassifiziert und von Medusa mittels des Verteidigungs-und Drohnensystems des Pentagons unerbittlich gejagt. Wichtigste erste Zielobjekte sind Medusas Programmierer Dr. Lopez und Dr. Marietta, denn sie sind die einzigen Menschen, die Medusa noch aufhalten könnten. Angetrieben von Rachegedanken versucht Max mit allen ihm zur Verfügung stehenden Mitteln das Geld aufzutreiben. Er weiß: Nur so kann er Ellis gegenübertreten, seine Tochter befreien und den Schurken eliminieren …
