Dorthin, wo sie Zuflucht vor den Nazis suchten. Widersprüchlich erscheinen ihre Erinnerungen an diese Zeit: Eine zutiefst menschliche Reise in die Vergangenheit bei der gegessen, getrunken, gestritten und gelacht wird. Die langen Monate im Wald, mit wenig Nahrung und Wasser. Die Flucht vor den Nazis: beschäftigt mit dem bloßen Überleben. Dies hat die drei Brüder völlig unterschiedlich geprägt: Emmanuel (85) hat sein Trauma verdrängt und noch nie darüber gesprochen. Andrea (83) verklärt seine Erinnerungen und behauptet, die Zeit in der Höhle genossen zu haben. Und weil Ruben (74) damals zu klein war, um sich überhaupt an etwas zu erinnern, muss er sich auf die Geschichten seiner Brüder verlassen. Ein Film über drei mutige Männer und unser schwieriges Verhältnis zu Wahrheit, Erinnerung und Geschichte.
