In der rund 40-minütigen Dokumentation „Die Rückkehr der Wildkatze“ ist der Ökologe und Filmemacher David Cebulla auf der Suche nach einer der scheusten und gefährdetsten Wildtierarten Deutschlands: der Europäischen Wildkatze. Durch Zufall konnte David in einem wissenschaftlichen Vorprojekt den Erstnachweis einer Wildkatze in der Nähe seiner Heimatstadt Jena erbringen. Daraufhin nahm sich der Naturfilmer ein Jahr Zeit für ein Wildtiermonitoring, um nebengenetischen Nachweisen vor allem großartige Aufnahmen von freilebenden Wildkatzen zu dokumentieren. Dazu bringt er Wildkameras und Lockstöcke aus. Davids Projekt ist von Höhen und Tiefen geprägt. Zunächst reagieren nur andere Wildtiere auf die ausgebrachten Lockstöcke. Kann der Ökologe genetische Nachweise für Wildkatzenaktivitäten erbringen? Wird Davids Wildkatze zurückkehren?

Slade and his ex-CIA cohort, Old Man, (Dave Sweeney) must figure out the way out of these challenges to make things right for themselves and the world at hand.
