The New Scooby and Scrappy Doo Show is the sixth incarnation of the Hanna-Barbera Saturday morning cartoon Scooby-Doo. It premiered on September 10, 1983, and ran for one season on ABC as a half-hour program made up of two eleven-minute short cartoons. The show is a return to the mystery solving format and reintroduces Daphne after a four-year absence. The plots of each episode feature her, Shaggy, Scooby-Doo, and Scrappy-Doo solving supernatural mysteries under the cover of being reporters for a teen magazine.

Er stößt dabei auf die Black Star Dragonballs, die den Dragonballs zwar sehr ähnlich sind, jedoch auch dunkle Kräfte besitzen. Durch einen Unfall wünscht er sich von dem Drachen Shen Long, der einen Wunsch erfüllt, sobald man sieben Dragonballs zusammen hat, nicht die Weltherrschaft, sondern die Verwandlung von Son-Goku in ein Kind. Der Wunsch wird ihm erfüllt und Son-Goku schrumpft in sein junges Selbst - doch zum Glück bleibt Son-Goku der größte Teil seiner Kraft erhalten. Son-Goku versucht nun die sieben Black Star Dragonballs zu finden, um sein normales Alter zurückzuerhalten. Findet man außerdem die Black Star Dragonballs nicht innerhalb eines Jahres, wird die Erde zerstört. Der bekannte deutsche Choreograf und Tänzer Detlef Soost, auch bekannt als Jury-Mitglied in der Casting-Show Popstars und als Coach in der Reality-Show The Biggest Looser, betätigt sich nun als Moderator einer Talkshow, die seinen Namen trägt. Im Stream Detlef Soost diskutiert er mit verschiedenen Studiogästen allseits geläufige Themen wie Mobbing, Probleme in der Beziehung oder Armut versus Luxus. Wie gewohnt, fungiert er dabei als Coach und Lebensberater, der immer ein offenes Ohr und oft seine ganz eigene Meinung zu den Problemen anderer Menschen hat. Auch das Studiopublikum darf seine Meinung äußern und sich in die Vermittlung bei Konflikten einmischen.

Die zweite Serie um den furchtsamen Hund Scooby-Doo und seinen Freunden Shaggy, Velma, Fred und Daphne. Nachdem die erste Serie „Scooby-Doo – Wo bist Du?“ so erfolgreich gewesen war, durfte das Team der Geisterjäger diesmal in jeder Episode auf mehr oder weniger berühmten Persönlichkeiten treffen. Einige sind hierzulande unbekannte amerikanische Showgrößen, andere schon wieder vergessen und einige sind anderen Trickserein von Hanna-Barbera entliehen. Um einige zu nennen: Die Sänger Sonny & Cher, Davy Jones von den Monkees, die drei Stooges, die Harlem Globetrotters, Batman oder Josie & die Pussycats aus einem anderen Hanna-Barbera-Cartoon. Ansonsten blieb man beim Altbewährten: unheimliche Fälle entpuppen sich als Verbrechen.
