In 1846, Anthony Hope sails into London with the mysterious Sweeney Todd, a once-naive barber whose life and marriage was uprooted by a corrupt justice system. Während seine Frau die Familienkasse aufzubessern versucht, beginnt Antoine Doinel sich in seiner bürgerlichen Umgebung zu langweilen und bandelt mit der exotischen Japanerin Kyoko an. Wird Christine ihn zur Vernunft bringen können?
