1989: 64th and last year of the Showa era. A girl is kidnapped and killed. The unsolved case is called Case 64 ('rokuyon'). 2002: Yoshinobu Mikami, who was the detective in charge of the Case 64, moves as a Public Relations Officer in the Police Affairs Department. His relation with the reporters is conflicted and his own daughter is missing. The statute of limitations for the Case 64 will expire in one year. Then a kidnapping case, similar to the Case 64, takes place. The rift between the criminal investigation department and police administration department deepens. Mikami challenges the case as a public relations secretary.

Mit dem Fokus auf Frontmann Dieter „Otze“ Ehrlich durchschreitet SCHLEIMKEIM mehrere Bedeutungsebenen. Durch Zeitdokumente und Interviews mit verbliebenen Bandmitgliedern und Angehörigen entsteht eine dokumentarische Collage, welche Musik erfahrbar und den Preis der Freiheit sichtbar macht.

Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, 1985: Stadt der Mormonen, des amerikanischen Konservatismus - und der Punks?! Stevo und Heroin Bob (der nicht einmal Aspirin zu sich zu nehmen wünscht und eine ausgeprägte Phobie gegen Spritzen entwickelt hat) fühlen sich immer wieder als die einzigen richtigen Punks in der Stadt der großen Kultur des white trash. Es gibt zwar noch jede Menge andere junge ZeitgenossInnen mit bunten Haaren und aufsässigen Einstellungen, aber dies sind alles mehr oder weniger Pseudos. Und so nimmt uns Stevo mit auf eine willkürliche Tour durch die Partys, Konzerte und Jahre, in denen es nicht leicht war, sich ein Punk zu nennen.
