Dort entwickelt man eine Anti-Godzilla-Bombe die ein schwarzes Loch erzeugt, das das grüne Monster aufsaugen soll. Während eines letzten Tests unterläuft ein Fehler und das Tor zu einer anderen Dimension wird geöffnet. Heraus kommt eine Riesenlarve aus der nach kurzer Zeit 5-Meter-lange Riesenlibellen schlüpfen, die Meganulas. Sie sammeln Energie und pumpen sie in eine weitere Larve aus der schließlich jenes Monster schlüpft mit dem selbst Godzilla nicht gerechnet hätte: Megaguirus ein gigantischer Riesenkäfer. Der will sofort Godzillas Energie anzapfen und so wird Japan schließlich zum Schlachtfeld auf dem sich Godzilla, Megaguirus und die Menschheit gegenüber stehen...

Die Regierung Japans dementiert dies zwar, hat aber bald ganz andere Sorgen. Godzilla ist wieder in Japan und es wird schnell klar, dass es sich diesmal um kein Gerücht handelt. Beseelt von den Geistern tausender im zweiten Weltkrieg gefallener Soldaten, scheint es nichts zu geben was ihn aufhalten kann. Drei heilige Kreaturen, die sich Godzilla gemeinsam stellen, sind die letzte Hoffnung der Menschheit. Wird die Welt noch einmal gerettet werden können?
