Im verflixten siebten Ehejahr holen Lukas und Hannelore Schmidt ihre Hochzeitsreise nach. Auf dem Weg ins wunderschöne Rom kämpfen sie aber bereits mit den ersten Hindernissen: der von Lukas falsch berechnete Sprit geht aus und die beiden müssen eine Zwangspause einlegen. Zu allem Überfluss wird auch noch Lukas’ Brieftasche mit seinem gesamten Urlaubsgeld gestohlen. Für Hannelore hat die Situation allerdings ihren gewissen Reiz, denn sie lernt den charmanten Rossano Bertorelli kennen, der ihr fortan nach bewährter Masche den Hof macht. Unterdessen schlägt sich Lukas seine Urlaubstage damit um die Ohren, in der Verbrecherkartei des Polizeiarchivs nach dem Taschendieb zu suchen. Das Chaos nimmt schließlich seinen Lauf, als sich die amerikanische Malerin Kay auch noch auf den ersten Blick in Lukas verliebt…

When they read in the paper the baby is believed to have been kidnapped, they disguise Curly as a the baby's mother and try to sneak past the local cop.
