The film begins in Mumbai where a terror-sticking dead body from the hospital mortuary wakes up. Everybody reads him as Godse who is in a coma for 18 months, and a couple, Bhupati & Malathi Devi forwards as his parents. People is a film shot behind closed doors in a workshop/house on the outskirts of Paris and features a dozen characters. It is based on an interweaving of scenes of moaning and sex. The house is the characters' common space, but the question of ownership is distended, they don't all inhabit it in the same way. As the sequences progress, we don't find the same characters but the same interdependent relationships. Through the alternation between lament and sexuality, physical and verbal communication are put on the same level. The film then deconstructs, through its repetitive structure, our relational myths.

Der L.A. Dieser arbeitet jedoch für die Organisation, hinter der Riggs und Murtaugh her sind. Die Spuren führen die beiden Cops direkt in die südafrikanische Botschaft.

Eines Morgens erhalten Riggs und Murtaugh einen Anruf: In einem Haus wurde eine Bombe gefunden. An Ort und Stelle glaubt Riggs die Bombe alleine entschärfen zu können und lehnt es ab, auf das Sicherungskommando zu warten. Kurz darauf liegt das Haus in Schutt und Asche. Als Strafe müssen die beiden Streifendienst fahren und stolpern prompt über die nächste Verschwörung. Schon bald wird klar, dass sie in ihren eigenen Reihen ermitteln müssen, da scheinbar Polizisten illegalen Waffenhandel betreiben. Unterstütz werden sie dabei von der hübschen Polizistin für "innere Angelegenheiten" Lorna Cole.

Sechs Jahre sind seit dem letzten großen Fall der Polizisten Murtaugh und Riggs vergangen. Nun, da Murtaugh Großvater und Riggs Vater werden, beschließen sie kürzer zu treten. Doch bei einem Angelausflug mit ihrem Freund, dem Privatdetektiv Leo Getz, geraten sie in eine Schießerei mit einem Schiff, das chinesische Einwanderer ins Land schmuggelt. Der Ärger mit den chinesischen Triaden und insbesondere deren jungen Prinz lässt nicht lange auf sich warten. Und zu allem Überfluss müssen sie sich auch noch mit dem Nachwuchs-Cop Lee Butters rumschlagen.
