Das indische Grabmal ist ein Monumentalfilm des Regisseurs Joe May in 2 Teilen. Der 1. Teil trägt den Titel „Die Sendung des Yoghi“. Handlung: Der Architekt Herbert Rowland erhält vom Maharadscha von Eschnapur die schriftliche Aufforderung, für dessen Gemahlin ein Grabmal zu bauen. Er muss sofort aufbrechen und hinterlässt seiner Braut Irene einen Brief, der sie über alles informieren soll. Dieser Brief aber verschwindet auf rätselhafte Weise. Doch mit Hilfe des Dieners, der einiges mitbekommen hat, reist sie ihm nach. Am Ziel angekommen, verbietet ihr der Maharadscha eine Begegnung mit Rowland. Der erfährt bei der Besichtigung der Baustelle des Grabmals, dass Savitri, die Fürstin, noch lebt, und dass sie den englischen Offizier Mac Allan liebt. Beide will der Maharadscha mit dem Tode bestrafen. Mac Allan wird gefangen genommen, um ihn den Tigern vorzuwerfen.
