Fett und aufgeschwemmt verläßt Morrison die Band, um in Paris auf den Spuren Beaudelaires zu wandeln. Im Juli 1971 findet man Morrison 27jährig tot in seinem Hotel.

Ursprünglich wollte Lance Clayton Autor werden, sein Berufsweg führte ihn schließlich aber an eine Schule, wo er als Literaturlehrer arbeitet. Glücklich ist er darüber nicht, genauso wenig wie über das Verhältnis zu seinem pubertierenden Sohn Kyle - der mit der Kunstlehrerin anbandelt.
