Sie erfährt, dass der aufstrebende Gourmet-Koch das Restaurant des alteingesessenen "Grantly Hotel" übernommen hat und sich dort den ersten Stern erarbeiten will. Bei seinen Plänen wird er von der neuen Hotelbesitzerin Clarice van Horn unterstützt, der Frau, für die er Perdita damals verlassen hat.
