Mike Hilton hat acht Jahre unschuldig im Zuchthaus gesessen. Als er vorzeitig aus der Haft entlassen wird, will er sich an den Männern rächen, die dafür verantwortlich waren. Jerry Cotton und Phil Decker müssen die gefährliche Fracht schnellstmöglich ausfindig machen, denn New York steht eine Hitzewelle bevor. Ohne professionelle Kühlung wird die Ladung mit Nitroglyzerin innerhalb der nächsten 63 Stunden von selbst explodieren und New York in einen Trümmerhaufen verwandeln. Aber auch der Unterweltboss Larry Link, der das Geschäft seines Lebens wittert, ist an der tödlichen Fracht interessiert und will dem FBI einen Strich durch die Rechnung machen.

Mathias Pascal, saddled with a stupid wife and a nagging mother-in-law, leaves home and is extremely lucky at several gambling resorts. He returns home and discovers that a drowned man, fished out of the river, bears an uncanny likeness to him and is being buried by his family as him. This, to him, is a pleasant turn of events and he goes to Rome, where he falls in love with Louise Paleari. Count Papiano, a jealous suitor of Louise's, threatens him with arrest unless he produces credentials to prove his identity.

Unexpectedly, pretty engineer Sabīne is ordered to test a new construction fishing net on Nulle's ship and 'production conflict' between her and the captain arises...

Returning wounded from the war Maksym was overcome by self-doubt, in his physiological state. He is undergoing rehabilitation. He loses contact with his wife. He is tormented by dreams. In one of his dreams Maksym goes to the island to catch a lot of fish, as the paramedic advised him. Maksym takes a boat, net, dynamite from the best man and sails to the island.

By intricately remixing fragments of Australia's pop culture and film legacy, TERROR NULLIUS interrogates the unstable entanglement of fiction that underpins this country's vexed sense of self.
